The updated pricing below is valid from 1/1/2024. The new backup pricing is in line with the pricing from our old backup service offerings. But our new backup system is more advanced, faster, more flexible, has better and longer retention options, is more secure, "immune" to encryption attacks, built for 256-bit AES encrypted (S3) storage in the cloud etc. So, it has a higher cost for us than the old backup system. Therefore, our new pricing will be a little higher than the old one. That's the way things go. But as always, the pricing is fair and low for our clients!

Please remember that we offer TRUE backup plans to the cloud - not cloud file sharing services like Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, Sync etc. We offer a managed "version" (meaning we do the work for you) of backup services like Carbonite, Backblaze, Livedrive, iDrive, Acronis, Veeam etc. If you have very large data sizes in your household, we recommend that you  that use a backup service like Carbonite as we cannot compete directly on backup storage pricing for very large data sizes, i.e. past 2,000 GB (2 TB) of storage. For business purposes it's very different and we are more than competitive on all data sizes!

Rule of thumb for additional storage:

For Computer file level backup add $0.012 per GB (or $12 per TB) per month to the total cost of the chosen backup plan. So, a file level backup plan at $5 per month for 250 GB would cost an extra $12 per month for an extra 1 TB for a total of $17 for 1.25 TB (or 1,250 GB).

For Server file level backup add $0.018 per GB (or $18 per TB) per month to the total cost of the chosen backup plan. So, a server file level backup plan at $15 per month for 250 GB would cost an extra $18 per month for an extra 1 TB for a total of $33 for 1.25 TB (or 1,250 GB).

For Computer image/clone backup add $0.018 per GB (or $18 per TB) per month to the total cost of the chosen backup plan. So, a file level backup plan at $20 per month for 500 GB would cost an extra $18 per month for an extra 1 TB for a total of $38 for 1.5 TB (or 1,500 GB).

For Server image/clone backup add $0.030 per GB (or $30 per TB) per month to the total cost of the chosen backup plan. So, a server file level backup plan at $35 per month for 500 GB would cost an extra $30 per month for an extra 1 TB for a total of $65 for 1.5 TB (or 1,500 GB).

Rule of thumb for longer retention / storage time: 

Add an extra 9% of the cost per extra month (or 0.3% per day), i.e. a backup plan that costs $8 per month for the standard 30-day retention is $8 x 1.09 = $8.72 per month for an extra month retention (for a total of 60 days). The same backup plan with a 90 day / 3-month retention (2 extra months) is $8 x 1.18 = $9.44 per month. So if you i.e. need a full year retention you need to add 11 extra months at 9% apiece (11x0.09): $8 x 1.99 = $15.92 per month.

P.S. For long retention times (12+ months) the pricing would increase incrementally as there wouldn't be any retention possible until i.e. 12 months has passed. So, in the example above you wouldn't need to pay $15.92 per month until the first 12 months had passed.
